KALEEN HIGH SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCHTIME GROUP
The Restless Breakfast Program is run at Kaleen High School on Thursday mornings during school terms by a small group of volunteers from St. Simon’s and friends. The aim of the Breakfast Program is to provide a service to the young people in the community who don’t always have breakfast available to them. This usually consists of pancakes and something else (hash browns, milkshakes, muffins, fruit and yogurt, etc), plus tea, coffee and Milo. The aim is to be positive role models and build relationships with the young people. In doing so they hope to offer support in other areas of their lives and meet further needs through their other services. For more details contact Adam Mannion on 0458 043 411 .
BREAD-RUN
The Bread Run is a delivery service run by a small group of volunteers from St. Simon’s and friends. The team meets on Tuesday evenings to package and deliver bread which is donated by the Brumbies, Lyneham bakery. The bread is delivered to needy families and refuges in the Belconnen area. The aim of the Bread Run is not only to provide food but also to reach out to the local community and serve them in a practical way. It is also a good tool to build relationships within the community and offer other support. For more details contact Charles Body on 6241 4948.
CRAFT AND FELLOWSHIP GROUP
A Craft and Fellowship Group meets at the church on Wednesday mornings during school terms from 10.45 am to 12 noon. Our program is determined by the interests and experiences of the members and our craft work is a mix of personal and communal projects. A particular favourite is the making of greeting cards. Using a variety of craft supplies owned by the group and several individuals, these have been made with pressed flowers, marbled paper, rubber stamps, punches and material. We have also tried chocolate-making, silk painting, marbling and a variety of sewing projects. For more details contact Robyn Body on 6241 4948.
