ST SIMON'S DAY CELEBRATION

AND CONSECRATION

The weekend of 31 October-1 November 2009 was a busy time at St Simon’s

as we celebrated a significant milestone in the life of the parish.

Saturday 31 October

To celebrate St Simon’s Day 2009, we held a pot luck dinner starting at 7pm.  We had a night of good food, fellowship and musical entertainment with everyone bringing a dish to share and their own drinks.

Sunday 1 November

In September this year, the final payment was made on the church loan.  This finally allowed us to consecrate the building.  The Right Rev Len Eacott, AM, 5th Bishop to the Defence Force, and a current parishioner,  consecrated the church at a service held at 9.45am.

Following the service everyone stayed for morning tea.  A consecration cake, made and decorated by Doreen Tuckwell, was cut by Grace and Ernie Brand (original parishioners) and Hannah Church (the youngest member of the parish at 15 months of age).

A  barbecue lunch was then held in the church grounds.
