ABOUT US
People often ask what sort of church are we. Are we Traditional, Evangelical or Charismatic? We are reluctant to identify with any of these usual church labels as we deliberately seek to reflect the strengths, in a balance, of all three. If there is one word to describe us that we are happy to accept is “Trinitarian”. In all we do as a church, we are seeking to adopt a “Trinitarian” approach by reflecting the influence and experience of God as Creator, Redeemer and Holy Spirit. We try to maintain a sense of social justice and a concern for the whole creation. We have a strong evangelical concern that all people may know the Good News of God in Jesus Christ and come into a personal relationship with Him and live out their life growing as committed disciples. We try to reflect the Charismatic aspect of the Trinity by our encouragement for all members to discover their Spiritual Gifts and use them in the power of the Holy Spirit in some form of ministry.
In our life together at St Simon’s, we celebrate that in Jesus Christ, his life, death and resurrection, God has revealed and made it plain once and for all that he is not mad at us but loves us with the most amazing love. We believe God’s one desire is that, through Jesus, we might all have a personal relationship with him that transforms our lives, empowering us to live with hope and courage. Jesus expressed this when he said, “I have come that all may have life and have it abundantly.”
It’s our hope that in joining us and sharing in more of our life and activities at St Simon’s, you will come to personally experience the reality of Jesus’ promise of “Abundant Life” fulfilled for yourself.
